Name game, wanna play?

So forever Jon and I have had names picked out. Jonathan Christopher if it's a boy and Kierstin Nicole if it's a girl. I have NO leeway on the boys name. He WILL be named after his Daddy I am told. At least it's a nice name. So that leaves me with some give and take on a girls name. I love the name Kierstin, but every time I tell people the name we have chosen, no one really likes it. They may say "oh, that's nice", but their tone tells me differently. Others have told me flat out they don't like it. Someone said it might be hard to pronounce. But we tested that. If we really like a name we ask my Mom to pronounce it. She has an accent and if she can say it, that's always a good sign. And she can pronounce it, so we thought we were in the good. I know, she would be our child and we can name her whatever we want, but I don't want her to have a "weird" name. I work in Peds and I see a lot of weird names. I swear some people just throw letters together and oops there's a name.

So what do you all think of Kierstin...too off? Any suggestions, the first name has to go with Nicole.

I think Kierstin sounds cool. I like the different spelling. But then my name is JENNEFER, not Jennifer so there you go.

The name we are using has been M's favorite name for years. I am glad he will get to finally use it for his daughter. I chose the middle name and of course everyone likes it better- but that is to be expected. :)

Kierstin is cool. My first language is spanish so I would butcher Kiersten. lol Just be prepared for lots of misspellings lol What about Samantha? Too ordinary? I'll keep thinking.

I love Kierstin I think it's pretty, and not too uncommon. I've known a few Kierstin's and I don't think they had name "issues".

I like Kiersten, I think it's a very nice name. The name you picked really goes well together I am wracking my brain right now trying to find a name that goes w/Nicole.

Kierstin is great! It's very pretty. At least people will know that she's a girl. We're having problems with people mispelling "Jesse" and thinking he's a girl. No matter what, you have to like the name and possibly its meaning. Will you keep his/her Taiwanese name as a middle name?

I love it and I see lots o funky baby names too! This one is pretty, not very common but also not too uncommon. If you and hubs love it...go for it!

I had twin girls once named Michelle and Michelette because she was a tad smaller...egad! I could go on for days on that topic and I bet you could too.

Holly,
If we get a boy we will Not keep his Taiwanese name. I know that sounds terrible. But he will be a Second, named after my husband. My husband is not budging on this. I'm not sure if we get a girl. I've told dh about how a lot of people keep part of their name, but he doesn't seem too up on that idea. We'll see though. I'm working on that.

Kierstin is a beautiful name...One thing I always think of is the "nicknames" the child will get as they go through school. Hmmm...cant think how your would shorten Kierstin, but hey I picked out a bad nickname name....Channing!! I'm guessing she will get Chanzer or Channy!!
So you have total control over her name if hubby has the boy's name....lol

I had the name Hannah picked out way before I was even prego. Her grandmother passed shortly after she found out she was to have a new grandbaby so I felt it was only proper to give her a namesake. So when people asked me what I was going to name her I replied Hannah Frances. Their response? Well Hannah is nice. WHO CARES WHAT ANYONE THINKS! ITS YOUR CHILD!As long as it's not IMA Pig or URA Pig. LOL Chris and I have names picked out too-Christopher Michael or Georgia Lynn.

I like the name Kierstin too. And I agree, she/he will be your child and you can choose the name. My mom hated both my boys names. So to butcher a song, 'You're never going to please everyone, so you might as well please yourself.'
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you hear something soon.

I think it's beautiful. It's your child, and if you like the name, don't worry. It's not a weird name. Kierstin isn't hard to pronounce. It is spelled exactly how it sounds!
No worries, it's a beautiful name.

I'm with everyone else. Pick the name you like. Both names go together really well.

I love it, and I know two of them and they do not have issues at all with name butchering or spelling. They are both cute girls. Good Luck...Our girl was gonna be Lindsey no matter what, and now we have Maya. Go Figure! My advise is to wait until you see her because sometimes names just don't go with the child. You'll figure it out.
