I can't hear you!!!

I'm not listening.....I don't hear you.....I don't want to hear it!!! You can't make me hear it!!

NANANANANANANA!!! I can't hear you!!!

Okay so if you read the last post, on our agency website they changed the referral wait time to reflect the current wait..12-14 months. Okay, so I dealt with that. No biggie...remember?

Well today we rec'd our newsletter from our agency and it said...

"Taiwan: Although we have had several families come home with their children from Taiwan since the last update, the length of referral time continues to increase. The number of applications increased while the number of children available for adoption did not grow at the same speed. Cathwel is well aware of how long some families have been waiting (up to 16 months) and have tried to remedy the situation."

Okay so quick question as I may be missing something. People help me out here...I may not be to smart these days(note sarcasm) How can the average wait for a referral be 12-14 months if some families have been waiting up to 16 months. Numbers have never been a strong point for me, so maybe I'm not getting it? How does that make sense?!!!? And I wonder how they're going to remedy this? Anyways I will embrace my new positive mantra and say that the 16 months is the exception. Yes, sometimes I live in a fantasy world. But cut me some slack. I need some fantasy to get through the day, okay!!

You poor thing...I agree, the numbers don't make sense. It really, really bites...sounds pretty much like the China slowdown. I expect to wait close to 24 months at this point...grrr!

I hope thing stabilize for you soon.

I do have to say I love that pic though...very cute.

Hey Ann,
Maybe it is only a few families that have waited for sixteen months and the norm is still 12-14? Sounds good anyway! I know you can handle this, just look how far you have come. It stinks, and I am so sorry you have to go through this, keep your chin up and know that at the end of this very long tunnel there is the most precious child waiting just for you.

I am so sorry about the waiting and the unknown for your adoption. It is so difficult. The numbers don't make sense.

Just some help with the numbers...the term "Average" mathematically is found by adding up all the numbers in a set (in this case the # of months of waiting) divided by the total amount of numbers...you end up with a number that is a general representation of the total population of the sample. It is not the highest or the lowest - but somewhere in between that is representative.

So technically when they save average - they are meaning...MOST of their clients have probably waited 12-14 months...but that will not mean ALL...so some will have waited Less and some will have waited more....

Not that any of this helps with the waiting..it just sucks!

That stinks Ann! I think they (the agencys) think that if they break it to us gently and slowly ease us into the ever growing wait that they are doing us a favor. Not so! I want Hard Cold facts.

Ann dont worry about the numbers. They never make sense...I know that uncertainty is driving you nuts so just hang in there! The right baby/ babies are out there & they will find you. (No agency can put a number on that!)

*Now will your phone ring already!!! Im gonna talk to your agency right now!!!

Ann, Nicole and I were just talking about you yesterday and praying that you were hanging in there with this long wait. You are on the down slope of the wait now. Something I was thinking about (since we are doing math), most of the babys are referred at 1-2 months, add that to the time you have left to wait (even if it is another 6 months) and most likely the child God has planned to be yours has been conceived and is growing and waiting to join this world. We are keeping you in our prayers.

Hi Ann,

I bloghopped over here from The PCOS Files.

I'm sorry you're having to wait so long. That totally blows. Why does it take so long to adopt a baby? I'm curious (and have zero experience with adoption).

I just found your blog (though you've been to mine, sorry about that). I'm so sorry you are having to wait so long. Look at it this way - they are making sure you get the perfect baby for you. Stay strong!

Hope this is just a temporary slow down and things will speed up again for you.
I feel for you It is so discouraging to hear news like that.
Love the little kitty.

Just found your blog...so sorry about the potential increased wait. The waiting is certainly the hardest part!
But, like Dawn said -- you have reached the double digits and nobody can take that away from you!

Ann, I still continue to think of you all the time. Hang in there. I believe that the 16 month people are the exception. Kind of like I was. When we signed it was 4-6 months for a referral -- that was for most people we waited almost a year. We definitely would have been the exception. We have different circumstances but I wanted you to know that may be why people are waiting longer than the average. Hang in there your day is coming and we will all celebrate with you.

Let's look at the good side of things- how long have you already been waiting? Because that means you are that far ahead of everyone who has just started. O.K. I don't know if that helped at all, but you are doing a great job staying positive. I am hoping for 12 months or less for you!

Wow...I had no idea that adoptions from Taiwan were moving that slowly. THAT'S as slow as China...and I thought THEY had the record.

Maybe if you have to analyze what weird tendencies you might possess, at least one day of your wait will be used up...so, YOU'VE BEEN TAGGED!

Annie... are you with FHSA?

If so, well, I'd let it go in one ear and out the other. Unfortunately, all you can do is hurry up and wait. :(

It won't be that much longer, even though it'll seem that way.

Either way, I promise, it'll be worth it!

That is adorable. I have been thinking the same thing and hoping that 16 months is the exception. I am into my 13th month and really not wanting to hear 16 months. I got the same info changes you did. You cheered me up with your cat picture and comments!! thanks.
